ROUNDHAY JUNIORS

Hi, my name is Peter Salter and I'm the Junior Organiser at Roundhay Golf Club. I'm a past Captain of the club and I would be delighted to hear from any potential junior members or from their parents or guardians.

Roundhay Golf Club has a proud tradition of  affording many fine golfers the opportunity to develop their golf skills at an early age, as well as helping juniors to develop their characters whilst in the company of other golfers and social members.

A number of professionals started their golfing careers at Roundhay, where they were encouraged to participate in all the club competitions. Our juniors also represent the golf club in team matches against other clubs in the Leeds and District Union of Golf Clubs.

Junior golf at Roundhay is inexpensive and is an excellent way for youngsters to make new friends and integrate with all ages; the golf course is a popular place to be during the school holidays when the juniors can spend hour upon hour on the course or using the practise facilities.

Please feel free to have a look around and if you would like me to answer any queries I can be contacted via the club house or the Pro shop.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Peter

2012 JUNIOR LEAGUE UNDER WAY

It only seems like 5 minutes since I was writing to you about the adventures of the Junior Section but a quick glance at my office calendar confirms that almost 8 months have elapsed since the end of the 2011 season.

In that time we've had Bonfire Night, Christmas, my birthday, Easter and The Grand National! Wow it's been hectic.

Anyway, last Tuesday my team welcomed Leeds Golf Club (aka Cobble Hall) to Roundhay and we got off to a fast start with a satisfying 4-2 win.

I had to scratch my head when pondering my selections but after removing the splinters from my fingers I plumped for close-season signing Daniel Clarke, Alex Clauderay and the fruit of my loins Lewis.

Alex came up against a very strong opponent and lost a tough battle, however my boy closed out his game with a 2-1 victory and my secret weapon Daniel thumped his Cobble Hall junior opponent 5-3, this despite having to play from the maximum handicap allowance for junior matches of 21 even though his actual handicap is 28 - won't be for long ;)

I've got to dash now, it's the magic show at Roundhay tonight and in the morning we're at Gott's Park for Bob's day.
