PRETTY GREEN - ST PATRICK'S DAY 2012

Our Club Captain, Paddy O'Connor, is pleased to present Rob Darlison and Micky Hughes with their prizes for winning the St Patrick's Day Scramble for a record-setting third year in succession. A gross 58, nett 56, was too much for the opposition.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS; MICK'S ON THE FIRST TEE BUT HIS HEART IS IN THE BAR.

KEVIN BOLTON HAS SUBMITTED THIS PHOTO OF ONE OF HIS FAVOURITE GOLFERS. HE CAPTURED ADRIAN NEWBOULT HITTING HIS PROVISIONAL BALL AT THE 125 YARD 7TH HOLE. IN THE BACKGROUND IS NOEL COSGROVE WHO SHARES THE SAME TAILOR AS ADRIAN.

We stumbled acrossa box of photographs dating back to the early days of Roundhay GC. We believe this shot shows 2 grandparents of Paddy O'Connor and Andy Gray who continue the family link with Roundhay to this day.

Paddy's grandfather had one of the earliest stand bags to be sold in West Yorkshire. In 1923 they were rarely seen on golf courses but their popularity soared.

The third of the photos we stumbled across; we believe the golfer whose ball lipped out in this snowy shot must have been very unlucky and it probably cost him a pound in the fourball medal. Pro V1 too, didn't know they had those in the roaring twenties.

Robert Darlison will meet up with his ball when he's walked the 280 yards to the bunker on the right side of the 4th fairway.

Where's that tree gone? If you go into the trees on the last hole you'll find a nice gap since the 'great oak' succumbed to the severe winds recently.

Mr Captain, Paddy O'Connor doesn't transfer his weight to his left side and a splayed left foot means this tee shot cannot possibly find its intended target.

Mr Captain putting for a 3 on the 6th hole today. He got a 3.

Aspiring single-figure hadicapper Andy Gray being photographed by National Club Golfer for imminent supplement.

Twenty-something Rob 'The Rob' Darlison hopes he's hit the 7th green.

Andy Gray knows he has't hit the 7th green. Text book finish. Not.

The boys look on anxiously , has Andy found the fairway on 18?

Unbelieveable, edge of the green! You're the man!

Texas scamblers

Anybody got a lawnmower? The greens are a bit slow.

John Galley gets confused by our new sign! Turn left inside John.

Mr Captain's sign is in place and awaits its owner on Friday 27th January.

Bit squashy this weekend.

Above, escapee from Billy Smart's circus caught on the putting green.

The putting green was a frosty place to be at 9am

The strong winds during the week caused this huge limb to fall from a tree on the 9th hole, timberrrrr!
